I began thinking of jewelry just before my Aunt Ethel’s 90th birthday – “what could I make for her”? Driving around to shop for ideas, I saw a store sign that read “Beads!” I spent over 2 hours browsing in the bead shop; overwhelmed at all the merchandise, and the ideas that flooded my mind. I decided to try and make a brooch.
My only purchase at the bead shop was a tube of E-6000 glue. I remembered a vintage jeweled initial “E” in the lifetime collection of “stuff” I had at home; surely there would be other components I could use. After an amazing afternoon of ‘creating’, I had a beautiful brooch for my wonderful Aunt from South Dakota.
I eventually went to work for the very same bead shop in Georgia that started my journey with a single tube of glue. Eight years and 500 brooches later, I decided to open a bead “studio” of my own.
My husband and I relocated to St Pete Beach, Florida and my brooch endeavors led to creating necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and everything fabulous you could think of to make with beads.
My little “studio” quickly developed into a full blown bead shop located here on Corey Avenue, in downtown St Pete Beach Florida. After 14 years of business, I still enjoy hand-selecting the majority of items we carry. I take pride in the large variety of inventory; many one-of-a-kind specialty items you won’t find anywhere else.
